We are used to hearing about violence and oppression against women in Afghanistan. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear the good news! Come meet an extraordinary group of Afghan women who have for years been working to better the situation of women in their country.
Marzia Zafarzada Bahir, Arezo Qanih and Hasina Safi have worked for the Afghan Women’s Network, the United Nations Gender Equality project, and the Training Center for Poor Women and Girls of Afghanistan, and have represented Afghan women at major international conferences. They are here to attend the Circlework Leadership Training with Jalaja Bonheim, director of the Institute for Circlework. Upon their return, they will lead women’s circles in Afghanistan. Tonight, they will tell their stories and give us a unique glimpse of the realities they face on a daily basis.
This event is free and open to the public. However, donations to the Institute for Circlework, which has financed the Afghan women’s training, are greatly appreciated.
The Reform Temple Tikkun is located at 2550 N. Triphammer Road in Ithaca. From the Ithaca Mall exit off Route 13, head north on Triphammer for about 1.2 m. You will see the temple on your left. To enter, turn left onto Burdick Hill Road.
