Nelson Mandela used the above quote in his acceptance speech for President of South Africa. I wonder if he knew these words were going to inspire his country to become the  light they longed for and feared just the same. 

We are each born with a dream planted inside of us. A dream that life gives us all the opportunities we need to bring into the world. When we are children it is obvious that this dream is inside us and nothing will stop a child from living it. However, as we grow many of us come to believe that we aren't meant to live our dream. No, we are meant to spend $200 for a ticket to watch Bono, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods or some other super hero live out their dream. The longer we postpone uncovering and engaging with our dream, the deeper the dream gets buried under our shadow. The shadow shows up in all kinds of ways: addictions, chronic illnesses, shopping, consuming and other small self absorptions. We can become so enmeshed in our shadow that we completely forget the light that created the shadow in the first place. The more hypnotized we become in the power of our shadow, the easier it is to spread its fear to those we cherish the most: our children, our friends, our world. 

On the other hand, some of us have become so astute to the workings of our shadow that we spend years in various therapies just to understand it; as if that will eliminate its influence on us. However, we are never going to fix our shadow because it isn't broken. No, we are here to turn toward the light that casts the shadow and learn to live out that light in our lives. At Paradigm Shifts Coaching, my focus is to awaken people to and track the presence of the light in their lives. Mindfulness tools like The Work, Symbolic Tracking, and Shamballa Meditations allow us to shift our perception away from the hypnotic dance of our shadow- what Eastern spiritual traditions call Maya- and see the power of our light unfolding in our lives. As this process happens for us , we discover that what we thought was our debilitating shadow was really just another opportunity to learn more gentleness, patience and humility so that our dream can blossom. 

The majority of my work consists of assisting people in adjusting and accommodating themselves to the unfolding of their own inner light. That is why I call my work: Paradigm Shifts Coaching- we don't need to make the shift happen- the Universe will handle that, we need to learn how to recognize it and engage with it!  

Personal and Professional Life Coaching is quickly becoming a major training system for people to uncover and live their inner light. We are becoming aware that we don't need more training in how to deal with our darkness, we need training in how to face and use our light!
