This is a great question! It causes us to go deeper into the Law of Attraction and how it really works. For example, another question we could ask is: If the Law of Attraction works, how is it working for me?
To find the answer to these questions we need to have a way to Track the Law of Attraction in action. Symbolic Tracking is my signature work and a key tool we need to have to see the Law of Attraction in our lives. Tracking is the art of juxtaposing important life events back to our intention. So the first step in seeing what we are attracting is formulating a clear intention. The best way to do this is to write down what we want in our life and then go into meditation and ask our Heart for our deepest intent. In the silence of meditation, we can listen to the Heart for our higher desire or what I call "the Heart's consent." Here we don't need to think, just look for the images, listen for guidance that arises out of the Heart.
Once we have created a Heart centered intention, we can begin Tracking what happens- animal sightings, things that happen in threes, clues, even disturbing events (whatever really grabs our attention) back to our intention. We begin by asking: How is this event guiding me toward my intention. This is how the Law of Attraction works. The more we do this, the more we will see that the Law does work, we just need to develop the discipline to see everything through the "eyes of our Heart's Intent."
Yes, sometimes "bad" things happen and these too are guiding us to fulfilling our Intention. Once we engage with our struggles as learning sessions, we will get the lesson and this frees us to move forward. The only good thing about getting smacked once is that it is over!
And that list you made before entering the Heart? Once you engage with Symbolic Tracking, you will see like countless people I have taught Tracking to, the Universe or your higher Self knows a faster way to manifest what you really want, Trust the process and help yourself by seeing everything through the eyes of your Intention.
There is a Helix Nebula which was photographed a few years ago and it is called:"The eye of God." An apt name for this nebula as it resembles a large eye staring out at us from distant space. This image creates wonder and mystery for all. However as we ponder the symbolic meaning of this "prolate spheroid" of dense gas, it can also make us feel uneasy to think God is out there, somewhere, watching us? Modern psychology proposes that the majority of our fears comes from the belief that when we die we will be judged by this omnicient being, this all seeing Eye!
In the ancient Indian philosophy called Kashmir Shaivism, God is called The Witness. The Witness is fully awake and compassionate toward all the other aspects of itself. It does not judge nor condemn. Enlightenment is equated with merging our perspective fully with this witness. Once we are permanently anchored in this perspective we have a divine vision of ourselves and this manifest world. With that perspective we encounter everything and everyone with peace and unbounded love.
To be that Seer and not the Seen, we have to work with our repetitive judgements that place us again and again at the mercy of who we think we are and thus the One we think other's see. This teaching is subtle yet profoundly freeing when we put it into practice. One of my favorite practices is to constantly remind myself to stop telling me the story of my life. Ever notice that when you are in neutral in your life: driving the car, out for a stroll, meditating or eating in silence, the narration of what is or isn't happening takes over your mind? This little spin doctor starts judging, critiquing and wool gathering as soon as we turn within.
Before we SEE this narrator in action, we may not even notice how its perceptions are largely based in the judgements we have adopted from others. Over time the narrator saps our energy, leads us to become obsessed with the opinions of others, defensive and even paranoid. To be the Seer is to recognize when the narrator takes over. This is the first step in silencing him or her. We can do this through simple techniques like detaching from it by grounding ourselves in the here and now. Instead of buying into the narration, we can name the objects in front of us with each inhalation and exhalation: breath >car< breath> tree<breath> grass<breath< bush>breath, etc. Eventually we can drop the naming game and focus on our breath as it goes in and out. The more aware of the breath we become, the easier it is to slip into the space between our breaths where the Witness resides; this is the center of our inner and outer power.
Once we taste the sweet freedom of living as the Seer and not the seen, we want more! This leads us to the power of inquiry or contemplation. Just Tracking whatever is happening in our lives as perfect to fulfilling our intention opens the arms of the Seer. The Work of Byron Katie is an excellent tool to find the Seer in the perceived chaos of the Seen. Like the Eye of God nebula staring peacefully through the maelstron of stars and galactic strife, The Work centers us in the peace and serenity of The Witness during the ups and downs of everyday life.
Be the Seer, Not The Seen!
This is the core practice and teaching I work with in Paradigm Shifts Coaching. Through private coaching sessions and Intensives, I guide people to find their own experience of the Seer. I relish the opportunity to witness people stepping into their freedom and out of the stress of living as the Seen.

Phobophobia is the fear of phobias or the fear of fear! America is suffering from this phobia BIG TIME!
Consider Health Care reform. President Obama has introduced a much needed overhaul of our failing system. This is not the first time our leaders have told us the system needs to be overhauled so we cannot claim ignorance. Like any overhaul, it is going to be messy but it does need to happen! We all know it; that much we agree on. How come we can't get around to doing it?
Today a colleague of mine whose husband just suffered a stroke told me that his healthcare costs will easily top $100,000. Although she has a good insurance plan, she still is responsible for 10% of this payment; that is $10,000! In addition, her nerves were boiling when she learned that one of the physicians involved in the care makes over $600,000 per year! That's enough to feed the population of a small country for a year!
Why can't we see the greed and clear it away? Because we are bogged down in arguments that play on our fears. Even when we see the pundits sewing the seeds of fear with their "What If" predictions, we cannot break through this smokescreen because they are mirroring our own character defects. We have become a nation of Phobophobics.
Greed like other ailments is sown from fear. Right now, America's fear has become institutionalized and therefore has taken on a life of its own. We have become a people who are afraid of FEAR! If you listen to the talking heads, you will hear a lot of "What Ifs" in the dialog about the dangers of changing our healthcare, and for that matter our entire system of governance. Living in What Ifs is fear of fear.
Consider this: We haven't had a terrorist attack since 2001- and we still don't have enough factual material to determine who was actually responsible for the terrorist attack- and have never had a full scale attack on our soil, yet our military will receive over 680 billion dollars in 2010! This is almost as much as the rest of the world's defense spending combined! Now that is FEAR of FEAR! We have no objective reason to be afraid.Yet we continue to feed ourselves a diet of fear through regularly gorging ourselves on what if scenarios; the majority of which never happen.
Do we really need to hear over and over again how one person in the last five months attempted to board an airplane with possible explosives? Given that thousands of people board airplanes everyday with no intent to cause harm, how come the one out of 5,000 causes the airlines to no longer permit us to carry on our own water bottles?
Until we purge ourselves from this phobia we are doomed to continually perceive a world filled with threats. The treatment for phobophobia is to change the way you see and relate to your fear. Through hypnosis, energy psychology and cognitive modification, therapists assist people in distancing themselves from the fear of becoming fearful by helping them to see the fear as if it is happening in a movie or dream.
Likewise in Symbolic Tracking- the primary practice of Paradigm Shifts Coaching, we teach ourselves to see this world as if it is a movie or a dream. In this way we learn how to detach from our fear; for only then can we overcome it. Therapists also advise the use of Inquiry or Contemplation to question the perceived reality of our fears and therefore free our perceptions from that which rarely even exists!
We are suffering from a disease of the mind that has infected us at all levels. We see it in the federal government, but also in our own daily lives. How many of us give our kids cell phones so that we can feel safer knowing that we can stay connected no matter what? This is a classic symptom of our disease. How many of us recoil from change and feel continually anxious about losing our jobs, our money or our relationships? Another symptom of our phobia, "What if I lose my job? What if my house or car is repossessed? "What if I lose my Life!"
What if,What if, What if? As the great teacher Byron Katie points out, "Want fear? Get a future."
I remember years ago working with a Coach who always replied in the same way to my What If statements. He would say, "Well Ravi, who took care of you yesterday, last week, last year? Why would that force abandon you today?"
Clearly my Coach was onto something that our clinical and governing professionals have not yet bridged, at least not openly. There is a power greater than our What If minds and discovering that power NOW is the only long term cure for Phobophobia.
As the bumper sticker says: The only way out, is IN!
Many people encounter confusion when it comes to pausing and risking.
Pause adverse people tend to be like the energizer bunny; we just hop from one task to another. If we stop to look at this style of creating, we discover that we are acting from a belief that if I do more, I will receive more. In the short run this idea may pan out, but in the long run it leads to wearing down our bodies and our minds. Living life on the run, we become indifferent to our own needs for rest and reflection. Eventually we become blind to the encroaching limitations of our sabotaging busyness.
When we are Risk adverse, we spend our time so engrossed in the movie of our lives that we neglect to hear our own starting gun. We stand at the line waiting for our moment to arrive and curse the world when it doesn't show up. When opportunities do present themselves, perpetual pausers lack the experience of executing a risk and settle back into familiar patterns and circumstances. Comfortably numb, we find the same old excuses waiting for us in the easy chair: I don't have the money, I don't have the time, I'll probably fail anyway.
Learning when to pause and when to risk is essential for success in any endeavour. One of the best ways to discern between the two is to approach change in three stages:
1. Recognize that something new has entered your life.
2. Give your self time, days or even weeks, to explore the new opportunity.
3. Notice and honor your natural tendency to commit to just some of the opportunity for now.
Whenever we are presented with a new insight or opportunity, we can engage with it gently by recognizing that something new has entered my life. Many times we are overwhelmed with all the options and responsibilities that come with a new experience- even winning the lottery adds unforeseen stress! After we give ourselves permission to just sit with the newness for a while, we enter the second stage: exploring the new. In this stage we are naturally drawn to explore parts of our new opportunity that push our envelope just enough but not too much to overwhelm us so we quit.
Recently an older friend of mine contacted me because he was losing his eyesight and he felt ostracized from his family. He wanted to recover his sight but more importantly he wanted to reconnect with his family- he felt like they hadlost sight of him. Recognizing that this viewpoint caused him to feel like a victim we worked to change his perception about his family. Meanwhile, some interesting experiences happened around his eyesight. The first was his new doctor arranged for him to have eye surgery to correct one of his problems; up until this time he was told he was not a candidate for the surgery. Following this, his surgery was planned within the month- something that happens very rarely in this field. As he explored these synchrodestinies (synchronistic events that spiral out of our intentions), he opened up more to his feelings, reflected deeply on hidden beliefs that were blocking him and took the risk to clear them. He is now fully commited to his inner work and to reconnecting with his family in small yet powerful ways.
My friend crafted a new relationship to risk through being honest with himself and enacting that honesty. Instead of seeking love, appreciation and approval from others we can commit to giving that to ourselves. But remember- honesty is not about brutally tearing ourselves apart. It is about appreciating where we are now and what still lies ahead. Let compassion be the guide. As the bumper sticker says: Have patience, God isn't finished with me yet.
Taking the risk to step out of the chattering monkey mind gives us the courage to listen to our intuition, explore our chosen direction and commit to THAT! BUT Just for today! Tomorrow? Don't worry about it, God is already there!
